What I do.

I’m currently the founder and Creative Director of SLATE, an SF-based design firm focused on visual identity and packaging. With 20 years of diverse industry experience, I have worked on a broad spectrum of branding assignments for challengers and icons alike – global visual identities, advertising and packaging projects big and small.

I’ve been fortunate to work with some great coworkers at world class design agencies like Turner Duckworth and Pearlfisher – on some fantastic brands like Levi’s, Taco Bell, Coca-Cola, Haagen Dazs, Samsung, and Metallica. Teaming up with smart and brave clients that understand what it takes to solve tough challenges: an open mind, a lot of hard work, and a little luck.

I'm proud of the results from these collaborations, many of which have been recognized by some amazing organizations.

Who I am.

The son of an architect and artist, creativity was encouraged growing up. My first identity project after all was in 2nd grade when I designed the school logo and mascot (the Bacich bear). I’ve been hooked ever since.

Having  grown up in the Marin and lived and worked in SF throughout my career, I'm what passes these days as a San Francisco native.  But when the weekend comes, you can find me "escaping" to one of the local lakes, trails & beaches with my wife and small son hunting for critters.

But wherever I go, SF is a city that I always love returning to. It's stayed on brand since 1849 – a place for pioneering. So whatever changes you have in store for us San Francisco, please stay a little weird. It keeps things interesting.
